The inspector-general of police, IGP Olatunji Disu has presented cheques worth \u20a62,435,421,584.11 to 1,075 beneficiaries and next-of-kins of deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme.<\/p>\n

Presenting the cheques on Wednesday, the IGP said it covered outstanding and current policy years including 2018\/2019, 2020\/2021, 2021\/2022, 2022\/2023, 2024\/2025, and 2025\/2026.

\nSpeaking during the ceremony, the IGP described the event as his first official cheque presentation to families of deceased officers since assuming office as the 23rd indigenous inspector-general of police, noting that the welfare of personnel remains a major priority of his administration.<\/p>\n

The IGP noted that the disbursement not only reflects the Force\u2019s commitment to supporting the families of officers who died in active service, but also include the recovery of insurance obligations that had remained unpaid for years.<\/p>\n

Disu further said the presentation was more than a financial exercise, noting that it was a solemn recognition of the courage, dedication, and supreme sacrifice of officers who laid down their lives in service to the nation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
